Three small Berkshire pigs behind a wooden fence in a snowy field.

Pasture-Raised Pork

*pricing & ordering info below

At Homestead 41, we believe pork should taste like pork—rich, flavorful, and nourishing. That’s why we raise 100% Berkshire pigs, known worldwide for producing some of the finest pork available.  Originally from England and prized for centuries, Berkshires are known for their exceptional marbling, deep red color, and tender, juicy meat. It’s the kind of pork chefs seek out and customers come back for—naturally flavorful, never bland or dry.

Our pigs live how pigs were meant to live: on pasture, rooting, wallowing, and soaking up sunshine. They supplement their forage with non-GMO grain that’s third-party tested quarterly for pesticide residues.   We never use vaccines, hormones, or routine antibiotics.   We don’t rush the process—Berkshires grow at a natural pace, developing dense, buttery fat and complex flavor that factory-farmed pork simply can’t match. Whether it’s chops, roasts, ribs, or sausage, our pork delivers taste you can feel good about—and that you’ll remember.

Pasture-raised pork isn’t just better for the animals and the land—it’s better for you. Studies show that pigs raised on pasture have higher levels of beneficial nutrients like omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin D, and antioxidants compared to conventionally raised pork. Their varied diet and natural movement contribute to meat that’s not only richer in flavor but also more nourishing from the inside out.

This is pork the way it was meant to be: raised with integrity, nurtured by the land, and full of real flavor. Taste the difference.

Nourishing. Pasture-Raised. Unforgettable.

Half & Whole Hogs

Our half and whole hogs are priced at $7 per pound based on hanging weight plus clients pay the processors fee (often about $300 depending on marinade, smoking, encasing, etc. chosen by the client), with an average whole hog hanging around 215 lbs. This typically yields about 140 lbs of take-home meat, depending on your chosen cuts. Customers reserving a whole hog can customize their own cut sheet, while half hogs follow a standard package. A 50% deposit is required to reserve your share.

A good rule of thumb is to allow about 1 cubic foot of freezer space for every 30 to 35 pounds of packaged pork. A half hog yields approximately 90 pounds of meat and typically requires around 2.5 to 3 cubic feet of freezer space. A whole hog yields about 140 pounds and needs approximately 5 cubic feet. A milk crate is 1 cubic foot.

While a standard fridge/freezer combo may offer 4 to 7 cubic feet of freezer space, much of that is divided by drawers and shelves. For a whole hog, we recommend a dedicated chest freezer of at least 7 cubic feet to ensure easy storage and proper airflow.
