lamb

*Pricing & ORDERING INFO BELOW

At Homestead 41, we believe lamb should be tender, flavorful, and true to the land it’s raised on. That’s why we raise Finnsheep and Finn x Texel crosses—heritage breeds known for their fine-grained meat, excellent mothering, and efficient grazing.

Our lambs are primarily pasture-raised and grass-fed, rotating across diverse forages and growing at a natural pace. During weaning and times of nutritional need, they receive supplemental non-GMO grains that are third-party tested quarterly for pesticide residues—because clean feed is the first step to clean, honest food.   We never use vaccines, hormones, or routine antibiotics.  Our goal is to raise animals as naturally and respectfully as possible.

Slow-growing breeds like Finns and Texels are prized for their mild, well-balanced flavor and tender texture. Their slower development allows for better fat distribution and richer taste without the heaviness or gaminess found in faster-growing commercial breeds.

Lamb raised on pasture and finished naturally tends to be higher in omega-3 fatty acids, conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), and antioxidant-rich vitamins like E and A. But the real difference is in the eating—clean, savory, and satisfying from the first bite to the last.

This is lamb the way it was meant to be: raised with care, nurtured by the land, and full of real flavor. Taste the difference.

half & whole lambs

Our lamb is priced at $10 per pound based on hanging weight, with an average lamb hanging around 45 lbs. This typically yields about 33 lbs of packaged meat, depending on your chosen cuts. A 50% deposit is required to reserve a half or whole lamb. Customers purchasing a whole lamb may customize their cut sheet; half lambs follow a standard package.

A good rule of thumb is to allow about 1 cubic foot of freezer space for every 30 to 35 pounds of packaged meat. A whole lamb usually fits comfortably in about 1.5 to 2 cubic feet of freezer space. Most standard household freezers—like those in fridge/freezer combos—offer 4 to 7 cubic feet of total space, making lamb a manageable and practical option for families without a dedicated chest freezer.

If you're looking for clean, pasture-raised lamb that’s full of real flavor, this is an easy and efficient way to stock your freezer. Quantities are limited—reach out to reserve yours.
